Birch and Stairs, Balancing Rock Trail

by John Downey

I took this handheld image while hiking the Balancing Rock Trail with my family in Nova Scotia last year.  Dodging and burning (mostly burning) in post evened out the background and strengthened the silver tones in the birch tree.

Ji recently said that it was pointless to bring a camera anywhere because Ella and I are always snapping pictures.  Not true.  She is an excellent photographer in her own right and should always bring her camera.

I think I handed her mine for this one though.
