Emerald Crater Lakes of Debre Zeit
by John Downey
Little more than an hour’s drive south of Addis Ababa is the small, congested city of Debre Zeit. The area is dotted with several emerald crater lakes, most of which are unseen from the roadside. From the waterline, some of the craters are more than eighty meters deep. This first image is a stitched panorama of Bishoftu lake. For the one below, I nudged up the color vibrancy, otherwise it is SOOTC. What I liked about the two together was the similar range in color, though both shots are of two different lakes.
