Tree Trunks and Cherry Blossoms – A Black and White Study
by John Downey
When you’re surrounded by throngs of tourists, it’s challenging to study anything. But after a few shots, the noise dies away and you zone in on the details. The outcome in this case is black and white photography, a series of trees, dusted with fallen cherry blossoms, along the Tidal Basin. Craig Corl and I shot some compelling images (worthy of several posts) of what might just be the end of the festival this year, considering the wind was picking up and strong storms are forecasted for tonight. Good thing there was a parking spot this afternoon.
